Protests Erupt in Tbilisi, Georgia
Weeks of protests have rocked Georgia following the government’s controversial decision to delay the former Soviet country’s bid to join the European Union, as critics accuse the ruling leadership of following increasingly authoritarian, pro-Russia policies in a turn away from the West.
The protests have been met with a violent police crackdown as the ruling party and thousands of protesters become locked in a deepening battle over the country’s future.
